STATEMENT
My artistic practice is an exploration of memory, identity, and the unseizable concept of “Place.” Shaped by a multicultural background and years lived across borders, my work is an intimate quest for belonging—not to a point on a map, but to an internal dwelling: a “Place” emerging from the confluence of memory and identity.
Working primarily in acrylics, I utilize the medium’s fast-drying nature to engage in a physical process of layering and erasure. By incorporating textural elements and layered fragments, I build a lived-in, storied surface where gestural marks interact with translucent washes and atmospheric elements. This constant reassembling allows me to explore the fluid nature of memory: its formation, its loss, and its reconstruction.
I am drawn to an immersive scale that allows for a physical engagement with the canvas, a space where I seek to reach the essence of the familiar: a sense of déjà vu. My work gives form to the unconscious imprints of the past that persist even as conscious memories fade, translating into a visual language that which often lies beyond words.
