Smoldering, 2026

Acrylic, water-soluble graphite sticks, wax pastels, and textural mediums on canvas / 120 x 100 x 3.5 cm (47.2 x 39.4 x 1.4 in)

A quiet resistance, glowing beneath the surface. This sorrow no longer disturbs, but sustains—a fire that has become part of my own landscape. It is the steady warmth of memory: a presence that smolders, not to consume, but to remind me that I remain.

Note to self: I began this work on 28 February 2026, the first day Tehran was bombed.
